Hawthorne Blvd
Another day without work but a nice enough day to ride my bike around town and nip to Stumptown at 34th & Belmont for a hell of a strong cup of coffee. I took a few photo’s today too.
The shot below is at 42nd & Hawthorne Blvd, about 8 blocks from where I live. There’s so many more old and classic cars here than there are back in Boston. Cool stuff.
The next photo is up the street a few blocks and even closer to my home. This is Angelo’s and is about the closest bar to my home, though there’s another five bars within two blocks of it. It has a great beer selection and everyday it has at least two microbrews on special for $2.25. It was $2 till last summer when Angelo upped the price to pay for the cost of a large flat screen TV he bought for the place. Still, you can $2 specials down at the ‘Vern which he also owns and is not too far away. Angelo’s is kinda special though. I found this place soon after I moved to Portland, even before I moved to this neighbourhood. I’ve met some good heads here and it’s where I got my foot in the door, so to speak, in terms of getting work in Portland.
